PhD position in Immunology/Molecularbiology

The Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of Tübingen offers a

PhD position in Immunology/Molecularbiology

The aim of the PhD project is to identify and analyse new (epigenetic) factors regulating pro-inflammatory signalling in the skin, especially in keratinocytes. In particular, we want to identify small molecular inhibitors that are able to inhibit psoriasis, which represents a common autoinflammatory disease of the skin.

Activities and responsibilities

The experimental approach comprises:
  • Molecular biological methods (qPCR, cloning, shRNA mediated knockdown, mutagenesis, luciferase assays)
  • Chromatin immunoprecipitation
  • Proteinbiochemistry (Western Blot, Fractionation, ELISA, Coimmunoprecipitation)
  • Flow cytometry
  • Analysis of transgenic mouse models (esp. psoriasis mouse models)
  • Cell culture

Qualification profile

Candidates should hold a M.Sc. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology or in any related research field with a strong background in molecular biology or immunology. Moreover, applicants should be highly motivated and able to work independently. Experience in working with transgenic mice and/or NGS would be a plus but is not compulsory.

The position (E13 65%) is available starting from the 01.06.2019 and will be funded by the Else-Kröner-Fresensius Stiftung for 3 years.

The University seeks to raise the number of women in research and teaching and therefore urges qualified women researchers to apply. Disabled candidates will be given preference over other equally qualified applicants.

Send application to

Candidates should send their application with CV, motivation letter and the names and contact information of two references as a single PDF file at latest by April 30, 2019 via email to:
