PhD position:  “NMR spectroscopy of molecular machines”

Project description:
The group studies RNA-protein and protein-protein complexes involved in RNA metabolism, regulation of gene expression and protein homeostasis. We use an integrative structural biology approach in solution, where state-of-the-art Nuclear Magnetic Resonance techniques are complemented by Small Angle Scattering, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance and biochemical data to reveal the structure and mechanism of function of molecular machines.

We are looking for PhD candidates to study:
  • Multicomponent complex involved in protein quality control and homeostasis
  • RNP complexes involved in bacterial infections

  • Master’s Degree/Diploma in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field of the life sciences
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an international team
  • A strong desire to do research with high self-motivation and enthusiasm
  • Analytical skills, broad scientific interests and an excellent university track record.
  • Excellent laboratory skills, experience with NMR spectroscopy and protein expression and purification will be considered as a bonus.
