PhD student in the area of Bioinformatics or Computational Biology

CANBIO is a competitive PhD training program supported by the research funding scheme PRIDE of the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR). The CANBIO doctoral training unit will provide structured PhD training in cancer biology and aims to bridge fundamental cancer research with clinically-oriented applications. 

Within Canbio, we are seeking a  PhD Student in the area of Bioinfomatics or Computational Biology

In close cooperation with cancer biologists and other researchers in bioinformatics, the successful candidate will investigate new computational methodologies for monitoring cancer progression and predicting treatment response.

The project will develop new computational models for predicting treatment responses. This will be achieved through the integrated analysis of different types of “omics” datasets. Among the modelling strategies to be implemented, the successful candidate will investigate biological association networks and machine learning approaches for patient stratification. The project will research different clinically-oriented applications with an emphasis on glioblastoma research. It will involve strong cooperation with the Kocher’s Lab at Mayo Clinic in the USA.
The program includes a comprehensive training in transferable skills, support for career development, scientific lectures by international speakers and an annual PhD retreat.

The PhD candidate will conduct his/her research project at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH, Luxembourg)

The PhD candidate will be enrolled at the doctoral school of the University of Luxembourg,

The program will allow the candidates to obtain a PhD degree in life sciences with a specialization in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology.
