PhD student position in Inflammation research at Hannover Medical School, Department of Internal Medicine

Activities and responsibilities

As part of the department of Internal Medicine/Nephrology section at MHH, we investigate regulation of vascular inflammation in uremia.

Impaired kidney function is common and markedly elevates risk of cardiovascular death.
In animal models and human blood samples, we address pathways that modulate atherosclerotic inflammation in patients with kidney disease (PMID: 26449606, 23908345). The current PhD project will address the role of renal inflammatory cells in regulation of systemic inflammation in experimental animals (organ preparation and analysis by histology including microscopy and multi-color flow cytometry) and complimentary work with human leukocytes and tissue samples.
