We are looking for excellent and highly motivated applicants to reinforce our lab for intestinal immunology and cell trafficking at the Department of Medicine 1 (Head: Prof. Dr. Markus F. Neurath) of the University Hospital Erlangen.

You will be responsible for a challenging and cutting-edge translational research project from the core field of our group “intestinal immunology and cell trafficking in inflammatory bowel diseases”. Our goal is to optimize the use of current therapies and to develop novel approaches for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.

In our ambitious and internationally well-connected lab, pursuing the project will include the use of a broad spectrum of immunological and molecular biological techniques (e.g., FACS, IHC, ELISA, qPCR), a variety of state-of-the art functional assays, advanced imaging modalities (e.g., intravital confocal microscopy, light sheet microscopy) and complex experimental in vivo models of intestinal inflammation and wound healing.
You are expected to present your results on international conferences and to publish them in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.

Qualification profile

You have obtained an excellent Master’s degree or PhD in life sciences? You have a high level of enthusiasm for experimental research (including animal experiments). You have outstanding English skills? You are motivated to pursue an academic scientific career and to work hard for it? Self-reliance and sense of responsibility are a matter of course for you?
Then you fulfill all necessary qualifications to be considered for our team and we hope to receive your application.

Profound knowledge and skills in immunological and molecular biological techniques, experience with advanced imaging modalities and experimental in vitro and in vivo models as well as having obtained the FELASA qualification may further boost your application.
