Scientist as PhD - Positron Emission Tomography (m/f)

PhD position

at Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research (Cologne, Germany) in Multimodal Imaging of Brain Metabolism
The research of the Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research is centered on deciphering the neuronal control of energy homeostasis. In this context, the applicant will perform positron emission tomography (PET) experiments in mice using different radiotracers that address synaptic neurotransmission systems (dopamine, serotonin, etc.) and will develop suitable computational models that describe changes of radiotracer binding in response to endogenous neurotransmitter release. The project combines experimental data acquisition with computational kinetic modeling. The models will be validated by direct measurements of neurotransmitter release.
Applicants should fulfil the following requirements:
  • Master of science
  • Skills in mathematics and computations
  • Skills in performing biomedical experiments
  • Experience in programming (optional)
The position is open from February, 2016 and will be funded for 3 years. Please send your application via the following link:
