Senior Scientist Process Development for Virus-based Biologics Production (f/m)

Your key tasks include:
  • Implement and validate cGMP compatible up- and downstream processes for the production of virus-based biologics
  • Cultivation of (adherent) mammalian cells in bioreactors, propagation, concentration and polishing of virus-based biologics, development of active live virus formulations.
  • Transfer process and technologies from bench scale to pilot scale and support transfer to production scale at the contract manufacturing organization (CMO).
  • Support the analytical group’s activities to design, develop, characterize and validate analytical and quantification methods, e.g., cell based-assays, qPCR.
  • Develop and maintain corresponding SOPs and batch-specifications. Write project and study plans and sound scientific reports.
  • Communicate with company project partners, including presentation of project work.
  • Work in close collaboration with other team members and external partners.
  • Train and supervise technical staff.
Your ideal qualification:
  • PhD in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or equivalent, preferably with at least 3 years of PostDoc or industry experience.
  • Profound expertise in mammalian cell-based manufacturing systems, in particular the application of downstream unit operations for virus purification. Special knowledge in preparative tangential-flow filtration and ÄKTA system chromatography is an asset.
  • Project management experience in a cGMP regulated environment is a strong plus.
  • You are used to work proactively with a hands-on approach in a highly entrepreneurial environment.
  • You are a strong team player with excellent communication skills and willing to work in a company where own initiatives, empowering combined with accountability is highly supported.
  • The position requires excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
Our offer:
  • You will strongly support the transition of our first biologic product from bench scale production through pilot scale production to final GMP manufacturing at a CMO. You will be integral part of a small enthusiastic team with access to all other talent in the company you need.
  • This position is remunerated with a combination of fixed salary, bonus and equity. Our candidate of choice will convince us that a base annual salary of 50.000 Euro is not enough.
