Light Microscopy and Imaging Service

The Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIPZ) invites applications for a position in  
Light Microscopy and Imaging Service
The successful applicant will provide leadership in microscopy and imaging service to support the work of up to 20 MPIPZ research groups. He/she will be responsible for all light and confocal microscopy, and for supporting methodologies such as FLIM-FRET and 2-Photon excitation microscopy. In addition the successful applicant will continuously update the facilities to ensure that the unit continues to support the requirements of research groups and when necessary will establish new methodologies in collaboration with research groups. He/she will train young scientists in using microscopes, maintain the facilities and will work closely with the electron microscopy service. The position will be supported with one Technical Assistant.
Applicants should have high level knowledge of the theory and application of biological imaging methodologies and experience in applying microscopy or imaging in the context of biological research. The successful applicant will have a PhD and post-doctoral experience.
The position is initially for 3 years with a possibility of renewal that would include a long-term perspective dependent on performance. Employment is on the TVÖD scale at a position dependent on experience.
