PhD Position in Molecular Parasitology

Project: The cytoskeleton, cellular morphogenesis and organelle maintenance in the human pathogen Trypanosoma brucei.
Trypanosomes have a highly organised microtubule-based cytoskeleton. It is involved in fundamental cellular processes such as the determination of cellular morphology and cell division. Very little is known, in contrast to other eukaryotic model systems, about its function in intracellular transport and maintenance of organelles. We are investigating the diverse functions of the cytoskeleton during the cell cycle using molecular biology and biochemical approaches.
Applicants should have an M.Sc./Diploma degree in a life science-related subject and a solid background in molecular cell biology.
Applications from handicapped persons will be favoured if all other qualifications are equal. The University of Bayreuth is an equal opportunity employer and we therefore especially encourage women to apply.
Application deadline: 18. November 2016
Starting date: as soon as possible
Duration: 3 years (Salary E13 TV-L/50%, approx. € 1900 pre-tax per month)
