The Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) is a Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences, funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation, and located at the campus of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. Applications are invited for a research assistant position in the laboratory of Dr. Petra Beli (https://www.imb-mainz.de/research/beli/). The successful applicant will contribute to the internationally competitive research on mechanisms that maintain genome stability in response to cellular stress. The group employs an interdisciplinary approach, combining mass spectrometry-based proteomics, genomics, biochemistry and cell biology to elucidate mechanisms that regulate the cellular response to DNA damage both on the systems and on molecular level. The candidate is expected to apply for the IMB International PhD programme: http://www.imb-mainz.de/students/international-phd-programme/.
You will
  • Study the functions of posttranslational modifications in the regulation of the cellular response to DNA damage
  • Work in a close cooperation with a team of experimental and computational biology scientists to facilitate novel discoveries
  • Obtain training in quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics
  • Have access to IMB core facilities
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners
  • Be part of a highly motivated and international research team
    Required qualifications
  • A Master degree in cell biology, biochemistry, or related areas
