The Department of Neurology, University of Bonn Medical School, Germany  invites candidates for a
PhD position (TV-L 13, 65%).

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate, interested in the study of neuroinflammation during Alzheimer's disease. For further reading see PMID 21903077. This PhD position is available immediately and is funded for a period of 3 years.

Your tasks will comprise:
  • Work with transgenic rodent models including animal surgery and drug applications
  • In vivo microscopy
  • Immunohistological analysis of brain sections
  • Large scale protein production and purification

Your qualifications are:
  • Advanced university degree in neuroscience, molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedicine or equivalent.
  • A high level of motivation and a keen interest in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration
  • Strong communication skills in English. Knowledge of the German language is desirable
  • Animal training according to FELASA B standards is a plus

We offer a position in an international research team. Our laboratory is located on the campus of the university hospital in proximity to other collaborating groups. Our team consists of highly motivated basic research scientists, clinical scientists and doctoral/master students. Participation in this project is a chance to work in a clinically, highly relevant topic in a state of the art equipped laboratory.

We offer salary according to the German salary scale TV-L 13 (0.65 FTE, Jobticket and supplementary benefits in the public sector (pension plan according to VBL).
