PhD position: Non-endosomal functions of ESCRT-III

Two three year Ph.D. studentships are available (salary according to German public service pay scale TVL-13/2) at the Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology, University of Hohenheim, Section Yeast Genetics and Fermentation Technology.

In the project, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), we will study non-endosomal functions of ESCRT-III proteins using yeast as a model organism. ESCRT-III proteins are membrane remodeling factors involved in a multitude of cellular processes, like multivesicular body formation, HIV-budding, cytokinesis, repair of nuclear membrane and plasma membrane, resealing of the nuclear envelope after mitosis, autophagy, replication of RNA viruses and neuron pruning. We will focus on new aspects of ESCRT-III function.
