Topic of the project is the identification and functional characterization of signaling pathways and transcription factors that regulate the differentiation of the smooth muscle wall and urothelial lining of the ureter in the mouse. The experimental work comprises a broad spectrum of modern genetics in the mouse (transgenes, Knock-outs), molecular  (microarrays, ChIP-Seq, CRISPR/Cas9), biochemical, histological, cell biological and embryological (ex vivo cultures) techniques.
The candidate should be highly motivated to do competitive research, and should be strongly interested in questions of molecular developmental biology using the mouse as a model system. A broad knowledge on developmental biology, molecular biology and/or cell biology is desirable.

The project is part of the Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) “RENALTRACT – European Training Network for a better understanding of the molecular and cellular pathways that underlie renal tract defects and providing solutions to clinical problems” within the Horizon2020 program of the European Commission (n° 642937).
RENALTRACT is a consortium of eight research institutes, universities and companies from France, Finland, Great Britain and Germany.
The ITN offers a range of extra-research activities including soft skill and communication courses, and comprises short time stays in other consortial institutes.
The project is fully financed for 36 months with a EU-based type of salary of high competitiveness.
