We are looking for highly motivated PhD students to work on the role of transcription factors and epigenetic events occurring during cell commitment, lineage specification, differentiation and dedifferentiation in normal development and pathological alterations of the heart and the lung.
We use a wide range of biochemical, molecular/cell biological, embryological and transgenic techniques to study the transcriptional and epigenetic networks in heart and lung development and disease both in cell culture and in vivo in mouse/rat and zebrafish.
The applicants should possess a strong research background in molecular and cell biology; specific experience in the fields of heart and/or lung development and cardiovascular and/or pulmonary diseases, stem cell biology and/or epigenetics will be an advantage.
The successful candidates will work at the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim and/or the Medical Faculty Mannheim, University of Heidelberg, which provide excellent research facilities, as well as a friendly and dynamic working environment.
