PhD positions in Plant Molecular Biology

The Plant Molecular Biology division, Department Biology I, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, invites candidates for

Two PhD positions (TV-L E13, 65%).

Our central research topic is the regulation of photosynthesis and the integration of photosynthetic processes in the eukaryotic cell, focusing on intracellular signal transduction, thylakoid biogenesis and synthetic biology. (Further information: http://www.botanik.bio.lmu.de/forschung/leister/forschung/index.html). Of particular interest is to study how the chloroplast coordinates acclimation processes to altered environmental conditions by retrograde signaling. This involves biochemical and molecular biological approaches (Position 1) and genetic screens in combination with gene identification and the characterization of the encoded gene products (Position 2).

We offer
  • the possibility to work on a cutting-edge project
  • well-equipped, modern and highly interactive research environment within the LMU Biology Campus, Martinsried
  • expertise in a wide range of experimental techniques including molecular biology, protein biochemistry, physiology, genetics, and cell biology

To strengthen our team we are looking for motivated PhD students interested in the above mentioned topics and willing to apply various cutting-edge technologies that include for instance next-generation sequencing and biophysical and analytical approaches.

Interested applicants should have a strong background in molecular biology, genetics and/or biochemistry.

Applications (CV, letter of motivation and the contact details of two referees) should be sent per e-mail (subject:”PhD position regulation of photosynthesis”) until 22.04.2016 to: botanik1@lrz.uni-muenchen.de

Prof. Dr. Leister, Biozentrum der LMU München, Bereich Botanik, Großhaderner Str. 2-4, 82152 Planegg-Martinsried, Deutschland.
