PhD student Biochemistry
The Department of Biochemistry at the University of Bayreuth provides top-notch instrumentation for biochemistry, protein crystallography, optical spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and flow cytometry. In addition to offering excellent training and research infrastructure, the institute and the university create a highly interdisciplinary and stimulating environment for biochemical projects. The PhD candidate will be enrolled in the BayNAT graduate school (http://www.baynat.uni-bayreuth.de/en/phds/index.php) with an anticipated starting date of July 1st 2016 or later. The project is funded by a DFG research grant, and salary is according to the TV-L scale.
The ideal candidate holds an excellent M. Sc. or diploma degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Biophysics, Chemistry or a related discipline. Enthusiasm for experimental research, ability to work in a team and good English skills are expected. Training and prior research experience in one or several of the following subjects are of decisive advantage: molecular biology, protein biochemistry and crystallography, biomolecular spectroscopy and cell culture.
