The Institute of Hygiene, University of Münster, Münster Germany offers the position of a

PhD student in molecular biology and genetics
Ref. 10121

The position is available from 01.01.2016 for 36 months
Salary according to TV-L E13 65%

A main focus of our research is the characterization of virulence factors of pathogenic bacteria and the investigation of host-pathogen interactions. The successful applicant will concentrate on discovering novel virulence-associated traits in enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli using a transcriptome-based approach. The position is financed by the German Research Foundation DFG.

Required qualifications:
  • M.Sc./Diploma in Biology/Microbiology/Biochemistry or similar;
  • strong background in molecular biology, and in particular in gene regulation;
  • experience in handling RNA and working with microorganisms. Basic knowledge in Bioinformatics is of  advantage;
  • strong commitment to research and development;
  • ability to work independently and in a team.
