PhD student positions in Immune Cell Biology and Neuroinflammation

Institut für Biochemie und Zellbiologie, Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg  Magdeburg
The Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology has positions for Ph.D. students (E13 TV-L) for three or more years.
  • Regulation of cytoskeletal and calcium-dependent processes in T cells and dendritic cells (DCs).
  • Cytoskeletal-dependent mechanisms of microglia interactions with neurons and matrix
About us:
We study the physiological and pathophysiological roles of cytoskeletal and calcium regulators in the immune and nervous system using modern molecular, cell biology and transgenic tools (see Nat Immunol 2(9):855, J Ex Med 6;200(11):1491, Mol Cell Biol. 28(11):3776, Nature 464(7287):413, Brain Struct Funct. 218(1):295, J Immunol. 192(7):3228). High resolution intra-vital microscopy and in vitro live cell imaging are available. We also participate in teaching biochemistry and molecular biology to medical students.
Your profile:
You have a background in immunology, neurobiology or cell biology, with some knowledge of cell culture and molecular biology techniques. Previous experience in intracellular signaling and live cell imaging is also helpful. German language skills are required for teaching biochemistry.
