Postdoc Position

The Department of Physical Biochemistry (Director: Prof. Marina Rodnina) at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry invites applications for a

Postdoc Position

in the area of
“Single-molecule Biophysics”
(Code Number 12-16)

Our Department studies mechanisms of protein synthesis and folding on the ribosome (for more information, refer to recent publications in Nat Struct Mol Biol (2016), 23:342-348, Science (2015) 350:1104-1107; J Am Chem Soc (2015) 137:12997-3006; Nat Commun (2015) 6:7442). We employ a wide range of techniques such as in vitro translation, fluorescence methods ensemble kinetics, single-molecule TIRF, and mass spectrometry.

The successful applicant must have a strong expertise in fluorescence and single-molecule techniques, with the emphasis on TIRF and FCS, and have proven experience in working with biological macromolecules. She/he will join projects/develop their own projects in the field of single-molecule biophysics of translation. The Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry provides an outstanding environment for cutting-edge and interdisciplinary research at the interface between biology, physics and chemistry. The working language is English.

We offer a 2-year contract with the possibility of an extension. The payment and benefits are based on the German TVöD guidelines.

The Max Planck Society is committed to increase the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals.
