Postdoc-Position in der Infektionsbiologie Würzburg

Postdoc position
 
Applications are invited for a postdoc position in the ZINF Young investigator group "Organoids as host models" (Sina Bartfeld) in Würzburg, Germany. Our group uses human ex-vivo stem cell-derived organoids to model diseases.
 
Potential research projects comprise:
- Investigation of a cell type-specific and patient-specific response to infections with the
  bacterium Helicobacter pylori.
- Analysis of the role of mucus production for gastric infection and cancer development
- Modelling of gastric injury and repair in mice and gastric organoids.
- Establishment of organoids as host model for Epstein Barr Virus infection and the study of
  the interrelation of latency and host differentiation.
- Establishment of lung organoids as model for lung infections, injury and regeneration.
 
Applicants should have a M.Sc/Diplom or doctoral degree and a strong background either in virology, infection biology, cell biology, cancer research, mucus biology or lung research. Postdocs-applicants should have at least one publication with 1st authorship in a medium- to high-impact journal.

About Zentrum für Infektionsforschung

The Research Center Infectious Diseases was founded in 1993 as an interdisciplinary institution at the Medical Faculty of the University of Würzburg. A young investigator programme on infectious diseases research was initiated at the University of Würzburg. Four research groups work in different fields of infectious disease research.
