Senior Research Scientist in Translational and Systems Biomedicine

The University of Luxembourg seeks to hire outstanding researchers at its Interdisciplinary Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB).
The LCSB is accelerating biomedical research by closing the link between systems biology and medical research and application. Collaboration between biologists, medical doctors, computer scientists, physicists and mathematicians is offering new insights in complex systems like cells, organs, and organisms. Your Role 
The new Senior Research Scientist will be a member of the Bioinformatics core unit at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB). The successful candidate should develop an independent research program in the field of Bioinformatics and Machine Learning, but also take over general responsibility within the Bioinformatics core of the LCSB. These responsibilities would include contributing to the overall strategy of LCSB as an international data and data analysis hub, support in building up ELIXIR as an international IT infrastructure and in becoming a driver for interdisciplinary cooperation between LCSB groups and external partners of LCSB.  The candidate will also contribute to the training and teaching efforts of the University.
Your Profile 
•         PhD in Bioinformatics, Applied Mathematics or Computer Science
•         Post-doctoral experience of at least five years.
•         A strong publication record in bioinformatics, computational biology, specifically in the area of genome biology, statistical analysis of complex biological systems or disease network analysis.
The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. It is desired that the successful candidate will have a working knowledge in English, and in at least one of the two following languages: French and German. However, it is also possible to obtain proficiency in a second language after being hired as the University provides access to language classes. A basic knowledge of French has to be acquired during the first two years.
