Account Manager / Field Application Specialist - Life Science Sales - Germany

We are an international biotechnology company manufacturing core reagents (antibodies, ELISA kits etc) for use in Life Science research laboratories.  We are experiencing rapid growth in Germany and are now recruiting for an Account Manager to further develop our sales in this region. This is a brand new role and a rare exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to develop a brand. You will be based in the field (home based) but will work closely with the European HQ in the UK. You will report directly to the European Sales Manager and CEO, but will have the freedom to design and implement your own sales strategy for the region. As part of a small team you will have real responsibility and will gain exposure to multiple facets of the business. We are offering a competitive salary (negotiable dependant on experience), company car, pension and generous bonus scheme.
Responsibilities
You will maintain and develop relationships with existing customers with a view to growing long-term and effective business relationships.
You will also pro-actively search and connect with new prospects, and will visit these key customers and prospects. When interacting with customers you will utilise your core selling skills to provide effective solutions to their needs, with full technical support provided from our team.
You will arrange and attend trade shows and exhibitions to further build brand awareness, with support from the European team.
You will actively liaise with institutional procurement departments to facilitate ease of purchase.
From your experiences in the field you will provide feedback to Marketing and Product development on customer and competitor activities.
As a rapidly expanding biotech company you will participate in our worldwide growth and be responsible for meeting and reporting on annual sales targets.
Essentials
Must be fluent in both English and German.
Must have a life sciences qualification (minimum B.Sc)
Must have experience of selling to Life Science laboratories and be able to demonstrate sales growth, as well as existing contacts and insight into the German market.
Professional selling skills when identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
Must be prepared to travel extensively, both nationally and some international (to European / US head office).
Independent, driven and able to work on own initiative.
Strong time management and organizational skills
Full clean driving license.
