Biologist or biochemist with focus on toxinology

You are doing:
Join our scientific team in a key position and be responsible for the isolation and analysis of biogenic toxins. You will work in a team on the identification and development of enzymes and antimicrobial substances with potential for application in industrial biotechnology, medicine and plant protection. You are responsible for keeping various poisonous animals and plants and for the isolation of the respective toxins. The identification and characterization of active substances are also part of your job as well as the publication of results and the supervision of doctoral students.

What we expect from you
  • You have successfully completed your studies with a PhD degree in the areas of biology, biotechnology, biochemistry or a comparable field
  • Previous work with various poisonous animals are essential for this position
  • You have a strong background in the biology of poisonous animals and a good laboratory experience in the isolation and analysis of biogenic toxins and their active substances
  • You are an independent worker, analytical thinker and have a high degree of creativity
  • A good publication record is as self-evident as a very good knowledge of English, German is a plus
  • You like to work in a multicultural, highly motivated team and are characterized by your communication skills
  • You are enjoying the supervision of doctoral students and students

Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
The working time consists of 39 hours per week.
The position is initially limited until 31.12.2016.
In case of identical qualifications, preference will be given to severely disabled candidates.
