Senior Research Scientist in Translational and Systems Biomedicine (M/F)

Your Role

The new Senior Research Scientist will be a member of the Translational Medicine group at Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine ( LCSB) and will also be affiliated with the bioinformatics core unit of the LCSB. The candidate is expected to assume a leading role in defining, acquiring, managing and scientifically contributing to projects in the area of clinical translational medicine. He or she will design and conduct research studies in the area of endocrinology as well as chronic metabolic/ inflammatory and vascular disorders. The candidate will also provide medical input to ongoing research projects in other groups and bridge the communication between molecular biologists/bioinformaticians and clinical partners. The candidate will also be affiliated with the Life Sciences Research Unit (LSRU) for teaching aspects of translational medicine and facilitating interdisciplinary scientific efforts within the FSTC. He or she will reinforce and expand the activities the LCSB in the area of human health, clinical research and / or translational & experimental medicine.
He or she is expected to assume a driving part of the current cooperation between the LCSB and the Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM) in Esch in clinical research, teaching and care in endocrinology.
The candidate will advise and support PhD candidates in their thesis research. English is the working language of this international laboratory.

Your Profile
  • MD with specialization in Internal Medicine (Diabetology&Endocrinology).
  • At least 3 years of PostDoc research experience in a relevant research area (basic research).
  • Documented track record in Clinical research on chronic metabolic/vascular and neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Documented track record in basic research in the fields of in (patho)physiology of chronic inflammatory metabolic/vascular diseases
  • Strong publication record
  • Active clinical practice program at the level of an attending physician (endocrinology speciality)
  • Experience in the use and analysis of high throughput methodologies in Clinical research
  • Proven track record in carrying a leading role in research project acquisition and project management.
  • Experience in research collaboration with industrial partners.
  • Experience in academic teaching (academic teaching licence/authorization in internal medicine/endocrinology or equivalent)
  • Experience in supporting PhD candidates/MAD doctorate candidates in their research.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory.
