The Max-Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt (www.brain.mpg.de), is a vibrant and international institution for basic research in Neuroscience. In our new state-of-the-art building at the Riedberg Campus, researchers from many different backgrounds (e.g. molecular biology, genetics, electrophysiology, imaging, behavior, physics, computer science and mathematics) collaborate in an interactive and integrative environment to investigate the structure and function of neuronal networks.

The new department of Connectomics (director: Dr. Moritz Helmstaedter) investigates the connectivity between nerve cells in the cerebral cortex (www.brain.mpg.de/helmstaedter). We are looking for a

Technician (BTA/MTA/CTA)

to join our team at 50 to 100% employment, initially fixed-term contract of two years with possibility of tenure.

The candidate will work in close collaboration with our researchers. Your main tasks will be histology, staining for electron microscopy and technical / experimental support of our international researcher team, as well as genotyping of our mice using PCR and performing behavioral experiments with mice. The position requires willingness to participate in animal experiments. Knowledge in the areas of molecular biology, histology and electrophysiological and microscopy techniques are of benefit. There will be ample possibility for developing personal skills and independence. You will be supported in acquiring additional qualifications and, if wanted, in promoting your academic education.
The successful candidate has completed professional training as technician or a related qualification. We are searching for an energetic, motivated and independent candidate who is good at communication and fits into our team. You should be enthusiastic about scientific research and work in an international environment. Good computer skills and fluent English are required.
