Director Development

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced leader to direct our development program that focuses on the transition from laboratory scale to commercial applications of our technology.
The Company has developed a disruptive new technology for the conversion of carbon dioxide into methane, using renewable power and a variety of CO2 feed stocks. Electrochaea’s power-to-gas technology represents a commercially viable solution for utility-scale energy storage, grid balancing, and carbon recycling.

The core of the technology is a proprietary biocatalyst – a unique strain of methanogenic archaea, a single-celled anaerobic microorganism – which efficiently and robustly converts hydrogen and carbon dioxide into pipeline-grade methane for direct injection into the existing natural gas grid.

Activities and responsibilities

  • Lead the development team towards continued excellence
  • Serve as a strategic and scientific representative of the development team for building partnerships and for development of commercial projects
  • Support the planning and execution of funded and commercial projects
  • Oversee laboratory activities with focus on quality and safety
  • Matrix manage the development team and oversee/manage multiple projects with academics, technology partners and clients
  • Prepare, review, and deliver scientific presentations for internal/external audiences
  • Identify strategies for next generation technology development
  • Apply for funding and secure research/development commercial contracts
  • Support the extension of Electrochaea´s IP portfolio

Qualification profile

  • Background in chemical engineering, biology, chemistry or biotechnology
  • PhD with minimum 10 years relevant experience
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English; proven ability to deliver clear, concise presentations tailored to different audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership in fermentation technology
  • Strong experience in technology development from laboratory to commercial scale
  • Ability to quickly absorb new information and develop an understanding of the relevant biology, chemistry and engineering aspects of the technology
  • Proven scientific leadership of cross-functional teams, matrix managing people and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and efficiently drive alignment amongst multiple stakeholders to efficiently progress programs/projects
  • Experience in managing scientific collaborations and client projects
  • Ability to prioritize and deploy resources effectively and appropriately to meet key goals and timelines
  • Must be a highly flexible, results oriented, independent self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced dynamic environment
