Bachelor/Master Thesis: "microRNA in the influenza virus replication"

The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg, Bioprocess Engineering (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Udo Reichl), has an opening for a

Bachelor or Master Thesis

microRNA in the influenza virus replication

The research team “Molecular Biology” of the Bioprocess Engineering Department at Max-Planck-Institute for Dynamic of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg, which focuses on the interactions of viruses and their host cells on the molecular level, is offering a Bachelor/Master thesis.
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs which can dynamically change gene expression or control antiviral responses and therefore affect virus production in the cells. The aim of the offered project is to identify potential  microRNAs targeting host transcripts to regulate viral replication.
In collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences in Biberach (Prof. Kerstin Otte), we are looking for students of Biosystems Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology or similar disciplines keen to apply cutting edge research technology within the scope of a Bachelor or Master thesis. We offer a multidisciplinary team-oriented research environment in an excellent equipped facility.
Enthusiasm for research, good oral and written communication skills (English) and proven team player with strong interpersonal skills are required. Previous experiences in molecular biology/cell biology/virology are advantages.
