You will work in Tuebingen in an interdisciplinary environment with colleagues from pre-clinical and clinical development, business development and intellectual property. Your analytical reasoning and action-oriented style as well as your organizational skills will contribute to the team’s success.
Your role will be varied and encompass the following key tasks:
  • Development of novel cancer immunotherapeutics
  • Implementation and utilization of computational protein design algorithms to predict mutant protein versions with improved function
  • Conduction of binding assays and cell-based functional assays to determine effects of sequence modifications
  • Construction and screening of protein libraries
  • Work closely with members of the bioinformatics team on improving protein design algorithms
  • Support setup of a new protein-engineering laboratory
  • Lead scientific research projects as responsible project manager
Your profile:
You hold a PhD degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Structural Biology or Computational Biology or have successfully completed a similar training and thus can demonstrate solid operating experience in the relevant field. You have relevant experience and a proven track record in computational protein engineering, ideally in the context of T-cell receptor- or antibody-based therapeutics. You have gained comprehensive knowledge in protein structure/function relationships and are able to develop and execute strategies to adapt proteins for specific applications. Experience in the establishment and conduction of ligand binding assays (e.g. ELISA, SPR, BLI), cell-based functional assays as well as experience in structural analysis techniques (e.g. NMR, MS) is of advantage. Own scientific work regarding protein engineering demonstrate your skills within the previously mentioned tasks. You are able to lead a small lab team and have a desire to continue in a laboratory-focused role. Moreover you possess basic knowledge in immunology and tumor biology.
We expect a high degree of independent working, analytical reasoning and good communication skills. To be effective in your role as research team leader excellent German language skills would be of advantage.
