The Schwaneberg group is located at the Institute of Biotechnology at RWTH Aachen University, combining the chair of Biotechnology and at the DWI-Leibniz-Institute for Interactive Materials. In the last 15 years, the group has positioned at the leading edge in the interdisciplinary field of protein engineering driven by directed evolution and rational design.
In five divisions a joint research agenda is pursued to discover fundamental protein engineering principles. The scientific competence is built on an array of developed methods and technology platforms for directed evolution which comprises diversity generation methods in the division Molecular Bioeconomy, high throughput screening systems in the division High Throughput Screening and computational biology tools in the division Computational Biology that will ultimately lead to tailored-biocatalysts for significant applications in industry.

Your profile:
We are looking for enthusiastic and talented PhD with a M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Biology or related fields. You are highly self-motivated and ambitious and can work well in a highly active international research team, but also work on your own. Additionally you show a high level of English language proficiency (verbally and written) and excellent communication skills. Analytical thinking and self-motivation complete your profile.

The Group of Prof. Schwaneberg offers a highly international and stimulating research environment with state-of-the-art equipment and core facilities for molecular biology, High Throughput Screening (HTS) and computational biology. The Institute is well funded and provides a creative working atmosphere.

The positions limited for 3 years. The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
