Job vacancy for a bioinformatics scientist (NGS / cancer biology)
TRON (http://www.tron-mainz.de/) is a transdisciplinary, not-for-profit research organization seeking to diagnosis and treat unmet medical needs through innovative biomarkers and immunotherapies. TRON is expanding a multidisciplinary department with experience in biostatistics, genomics, bioinformatics, biotechnology, next-generation sequencing (NGS), immunology, and molecular biology.  We are searching for a bioinformatics scientist (NGS / cancer biology) to focus on analysis and interpretation of high throughput profiling data, including clinical NGS data.
  • Analyze and interpret high-throughput DNA and RNA sequencing data from TRON’s high throughput profiling platforms, including  Illumina HiSeq, MiSeq and Fluidigm platforms
  • Design, implement and apply analysis pipelines
  • Tight interactions with genomics, molecular biology, immunology  and clinical teams
  • Apply findings in both R&D and clinical projects for biomarkers and immunotherapies
  • Demonstrated proficiency analyzing with large cancer ‘omic datasets, including as NGS
  • Extensive experience with data analysis and interpretation tools (e.g., bwa, STAR, GATK, Ingenuity, DAVID, GSEA)
  • Excellent data visualization and communication skills
  • Deep understanding of medical, therapeutic, and biological cancer processes
  • Self-starter who works effectively in an agile start-up environment 
  • Enthusiastic team player
  • PhD with extensive experience in bioinformatics or related field
