Biostatistics Scientist – Studies (m/f)
Location: Heidelberg, Germany

As a member of the Biostatistics group, you will be responsible for the statistical aspects of several studies of diverse types. Two frequent cases are biomarker identification studies and investigations of clinical utility (efficacy, safety, cost). Both prospective and retrospective studies will be performed.

Your responsibilities
  • Contributing to the design of studies, in particular ensuring statistical validity for the projected goals
  • Sample size and power calculations
  • Data modelling and management
  • Building and maintaining an appropriate statistical toolkit
  • Performing analyses of the datasets gathered from studies
  • Communicating the results via reports and presentations

Your essential skills and qualifications
  • PhD or Masters in biostatistics or (medical) statistics, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills, preferably in R, Python, C/C++, Java, and/or SQL
  • Ability to work independently and willingness to acquire new skills
  • Be dependable, focused, and team-oriented
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)

Skills that are considered a plus
  • Prior work with CDISK standards (SDTM, ADaM)
  • Proficiency with methods to deal with bias and confounding (e.g., propensity scores)
  • Several years of experience analyzing clinical/medical data
  • Familiarity with molecular data (e.g., NGS data, protein sequences, and drugs)
  • Expertise in databases/SQL
  • Good presentation and writing skills for scientific results
  • Background in oncology
  • Fluency in German
