The University of Luxembourg seeks to hire a Partnership Development Officer for the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) at its Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT). This role within the organization leads the Centre’s business development activities to acquire and manage R&D partnerships with companies and public organisations from the so-called FinTech / RegTech sector.
SnT carries out interdisciplinary research and innovation in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) systems and services, often in collaboration with industrial, governmental or international partners.  SnT is active in international research projects funded by the Fonds National de la Recherche (FNR), the EU Horizon 2020 programme, the European Space Agency and the European Defense Agency. SnT has developed a broad and effective partnership program, currently made of 37 industrial and institutional partners located in Luxembourg and in Europe. For further information please see:

Your Role
As a Partnership Development Officer, you will report to the Head of Technology Transfer Office (TTO). You will be part of the TTO team and will tightly collaborate with the officers and research fellows in charge of project coordination, legal, financial, technology transfer and IP management.
Your main responsibilities will be:
  • Supporting SnT research groups during the acquisition and negotiation of collaborative research agreements with companies and public sector
  • Identifying new opportunities for research collaboration with industry including valorisation of SnT competencies and research results as well as commercialization of technologies through licensing of IP rights
  • Building and maintaining trusted relationships between research groups and partners and be their first point of contact at SnT
  • Advocating and promoting SnT’s Industry Partnership programme
  • Contributing to SnT strategy by providing input to Head of TTO and SnT management team particularly regarding market intelligence and IP commercialization
  • As part of the TTO team providing input to develop and support strategic and operational decisions including continuous improvement of working methods and processes to match everevolving challenges and requirements of SnT research community
  • Such other duties as the Head of TTO may assign.

Your Profile
  • University degree, preferably in Engineering Sciences, Computer Science or Commercial Sciences.
  • Demonstrate substantial commercial acumen, extensive experience and track record in one or more of financial services, payment industry, digital banking, regulation services, ICT or cybersecurity
  • Have a solid expertise with public research organisations in managing key accounts and matching companies’ longterm technology needs with innovative solutions based on collaborative research, technology transfer and IP licensing or other valorisation pathways
  • Have a proven record of success and handson development of high value R&D funding as well as IP licensing and commercialisation opportunities to industry
  • Have well developed negotiation skills with a cando attitude and a strong desire to make a difference
  • Be a selfstarter, with strong organization and planning skills and the ability to work as part of a business development and technology transfer team still under construction
  • Have the ability to interact at all levels, from university management, researchers and staff to company executives
  • Be outstanding in communication skills, written and oral
  • Be an excellent multitasker, able to manage a number of requests and situations at one time and be able to meet deadlines
  • Be keen in working in a collaborative, multicultural and very international environment
  • Ideally have a working experience in Luxembourg or Greater Region and be fluent in French or German in addition to English.
