The University of Konstanz with its “Institutional Strategy to promote Top-Level Research” has been receiving continuous funding since 2007 within the framework of the Excellence Initiative by the German Federal and State Governments.
 
The Chair of Colloid Chemistry is offering a
 
Ph.D. Position
(Salary Scale 13 TV-L / 50 %)
 
for a motivated student interested in gaining a Ph.D. in the field of Chemistry. The contract is at first limited to one year with the possibility of extensions up to three years. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
 
The research project at the interface between chemistry, physics and materials science will include the following aspects: synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles, assembly of particles into organized superstructures, and fundamental understanding of morphologies and physico-chemical properties of nanoparticle assemblies. Besides well-founded chemical basics, an interest in physical questions is expected. The performance criteria will include research work that is performed independently and with personal responsibility, and amenability to work with project partners. Taking over teaching responsibilities is also expected.
 
Your profile:
The candidate should have a Master degree in Chemistry or Physics with a strong background in colloid science, polymer science or material science. Further requirements include the capability of conducting independent research, scientific writing, and good communication skills in English. Proficiency in German is preferable but not required. The successful candidate should show an exceptional level of motivation, and readiness to push a demanding research project forward.
