The main objective of this strategic precompetitive research project is to assess the use of pressurized CO2 in extrusion and melt-spinning of thermoplastic polymers. Within this project, our Laboratory for Advanced Fibers offers the position of a

PostDoc in polymer processing with pressurized fluids
What we expect from the candidate
  • study sorption, phase equilibria and rheology of polymer melts with pressurized fluids
  • study the internal structure of extrudates and melt-spun fibers
  • study the effect of depressurization on material's morphology and mechanical properties
  • develop technological modifications of experimental setup
    You have experience with two or more of the following topics
  • polymer melt processing: melt-spinning, extrusion, compounding
  • polymer morphology related to fiber properties
  • pressurized fluid assisted polymer processing
  • pressurized fluid solubility and phase equilibria
  • high-pressure fluid technology and apparatus design
  • You are fluent in English (oral and written) and have a basic knowledge of German
This position will be available from October 1st, 2014 with a planned duration of 36 months. You work in an international team with state of the art equipment in extrusion, melt-spinning, fluid pressurization and analytics (polymer, X-Ray, microscopy, spectroscopy).
