A NMR-postdoc position is available in the Gschwind Group at the Universität Regensburg. The full time position (40.1 h/week) is initially limited to 1 year (with possible extension up to 4,5 years). The position is paid according to the German pay scale TV-L E13 and can be filled as soon as possible.
The position is in the frame of the ERC project 614182 – IonPairsAtCatalysis in a team with three PhD students and a postdoc for theoretical calculations. We are a lively and active NMR-group working on projects in the field of organocatalysis, photocatalysis, organometallic and inorganic chemistry.
Based on previous developments in our group we have an unique combination of methods (extreme low temperature measurements, hydrogen bond detection, energetic assessment of aromatic interactions, stabilization methods of reaction intermediates and ion pairs), which allow us to address the structures of catalytically active ion pairs.
Your Tasks:
  • Implementation and further development of NMR methods
  • Develop structural access to catalytically active ion pairs
  • Pure shift methods, isotope filtering, methods from protein/ligand NMR
  • 3D measurements for hydrogen bond analyses
  • Magnetization transfer optimization at very low temperatures
 What you bring:
  • PhD in either chemistry, physics or biology with a strong emphasize on NMR spectroscopy (Bio-NMR spectroscopists may also apply)
  • Capacity for teamwork
  • Grasp on complex systems
What we offer:
  • Modern NMR spectrometer with constant renewal
  • Lively and active working group
  • Opportunities to become familiar with a wide variety of modern organic chemistry methods
