at the University of Freiburg (Germany) welcomes applications for

4 PhD positions
Part-time positions (65%, TV-L E 13)

The Research Training Group (RTG) is funded by the DFG and focuses on the characterization of transport processes at a molecular level. The aim of the RTG is to excellently qualify doctoral researchers by providing cutting-edge education and by strengthening interdisciplinary research. The doctoral researchers examine the transport of ions, metabolites and proteins across and in the membrane using a huge variety of biochemical and biophysical techniques. Studies include substance transport, protein/lipid interactions and their impact on the biophysical properties of membrane systems, the assembly, maturation and structure/function relationship of transport proteins, and their integration into biological membranes.

The availability of manifold techniques within the RTG creates an excellent platform that enables doctoral researchers to acquire a broad spectrum of unique skills, providing them a wide selective advantage within the competitive job-market for scientists. The structured program consists of lecture series, seminars, method courses, a summer school, and symposia. In addition, participants will be offered the possibility to attend courses for individual needs. Successful candidates will be awarded with a Dr. rer. nat. degree. The program is taught in English.
