Activities and responsibilities

Two-dimensional (2D) materials, including 2D crystals and 2D polymers, show extraordinary electronic and optoelectronic properties that can differ significantly from their layered bulk counterparts. The subject of this project is to study how the intrinsic properties of the 2D materials can be maintained or even improved when interfacing the materials with surfaces, interfaces, and with surfactant molecules. The studies will be carried out in close collaboration with experimental groups in Karlsruhe and in Seoul, Korea.

Qualification profile

university degree (M.Sc., Dipl.) in Chemistry, Physics or related fields; interest in Theoretical Chemistry; knowledge of density-functional theory and/ or the properties of two-dimensional materials is an advantage. Excellent knowledge of English language is required. Employee secondments of up to 6 months (in total) to Seoul and Karlsruhe are expected. We also expect engagement in teaching activities of the Theoretical Chemistry group according to the DAVOHS.
