PhD student position in physical chemistry

A PhD student position (salary E 13 TV-L, 67 %, for three years) will be filled at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg by 01 April 2018. The research is part of the DFG Research Group Nanoporous gold - a prototype for rational design of catalysts funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

The tasks within the sub-project „Electrocatalysis and transport in nanoporous gold“ comprise cyclovoltammetric experiments and scanning electrochemical microscopy in the surface interrogation mode for the investigation of reaction intermediates and for the investigation of transport processes complemented by analysis of surface compositions using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) of nanoporous gold before, during and after electrocatalysis and different pretreatments.

The research shall be used for preparing a PhD thesis.

Requirements:
-   Master of Science from a research university in chemistry or closely related fields
-   practical and theoretical knowledge in electrochemistry and in spectroscopic and electrochemical measurement techniques
-   good English language skills
-   willingness and ability to collaborate closely in a multi-site project

Of advantage are:
-   previous practical laboratory experience in microelectrochemistry
