PhD Positions Design Automation of Complex Avionics Systems
Complex, fault tolerant and highly integrated avionics systems for aircraft and helicopters are a key research area at ILS. Latest research activities focus on the design of methods allowing the generative development of the aforementioned systems including the required qualification process. By now, the resulting methods have been applied successfully throughout the development process of avionics systems for aircraft (CS23/25) and helicopters (CS27/29). Based on these technologies, the ILS itself develops complex fly-by-wire systems for manned and unmanned CS23 class aircraft ranging from initial design to the final in-flight tests (www.ils.uni-stuttgart.de).
Depending on your position you will be responsible for research and development of model-based approaches mapping complex, fault tolerant and integrated avionics systems at different development levels. Apart from that, you will model the software and system design knowledge, embedded in these models. The derived knowledge-based models finally provide the basis for a highly automatic system and software development process. This process is characterized by a gradual refinement of the model (knowledge-based model transformation) that ultimately ends up in an automatic source code generation process. Current research also involves the automatic generation of certification relevant artefacts such as requirements and design documents, as well as the associated test-cases at system and software level.
- Master’s degree in Aeronautics / Informatics / Automation or equivalent
- Candidates with experience in either of the following fields are appreciated: Avionics Systems, Embedded Systems or Software-Engineering
