Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) (http://www.lih.lu/, previously known as CRP-Sante) is a public sector organization for basic, pre-clinical and clinical research in life sciences in Luxembourg.
LIH is to deliver scientific, economic and societal value for Luxembourg by performing research, studies and developments in the fields of clinically-oriented biomedical research and public health. At the forefront of biomedical research, we aim at translating knowledge into clinical applications impacting on healthcare while shaping personalized medicine. Our research activities are developed in thematic areas, such as translational cardiovascular research, immunology, oncology, public health, infection & immunity and others.

We are currently looking for an excellent doctoral candidate (PhD student) on Biostatistics, Bioinformatics or Computational Biology in the upcoming research group ‘Immune Systems Biology’ of the Department of Infection and Immunity. The PhD candidate will systematically infer and analyze molecular networks related to allergy and other autoimmune diseases in various related cellular types. The PhD candidate will closely work with experimental and clinic experts in the group, the department and other international partners. The related project will be based on a strong local cooperation with Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB, http://www.uni.lu/lcsb).
The ideal profile of the potential candidates better meets the following requirements:
  • A Master degree or equivalent in bioinformatics, (bio)statistics, computational biology or related disciplines.
  • Experience in omic data analysis (such as microarray and/or RNA-seq and others).
  • Skilled in at least two of the following programming languages: R, Matlab, perl and other often-used systems biology languages.
  • Some knowledge in biology would be a plus.
  • Excellent working knowledge of English. As Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context, German and/or French would be an advantage.
