The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. habilitation thesis).
Position and Requirements
In the Excellence Cluster cfaed researchers have joined forces to explore new technologies for electronic information processing which overcome the limits of today's predominant CMOS technology. In the Orchestration Path, we look at hardware and software abstractions that would allow to exploit the potential of emerging technologies, while ameliorating their weaknesses. In this context, we are looking for a highly motivated postdoc scientist to join this interdisciplinary team (from materials, through all stack layers up to applications) and contribute to make future heterogeneous systems feasible. The successful candidate will be required to conduct research that meets the highest standards of excellence.
We aim at attracting the best talent in the respective research fields and expect the following: an outstanding university master's/diploma degree (or equivalent) and a completed PhD (or equivalent) in computer science, electrical engineering or a relevant area. Research experience in at least one of the following fields, with knowledge of others: programming languages and compilers, software synthesis and optimization, operating and runtime systems, formal methods, hardware architecture (computation and storage). An independent, target- and solution-driven work attitude; inter- and multidisciplinary thinking; strong motivation and interest to join one of the most ambitious interdisciplinary research clusters; an integrative and cooperative personality with excellent communication and social skills; fluency in English - written and oral.
