The Centre for Information Services and High Performance Computing at TU Dresden has one open position as part of its activities as NVIDIA GPU Center of Excellence (GCoE, www.ccoe-dresden.de). The focus of the position is in assisting the porting and new development of GPU applications. The position is to be filled as soon as possible fixed term until 31.12.2015. A contract extension until one year is only possible under the condition of granted funds. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG):

Balancing family and career is an important issue. The post is basically suitable for candidates seeking part-time employment.  The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD). The position can be extended annually after a positive audit from the project sponsor.
Tasks: research and development on the efficient usage of GPUs in high performance computing; joint development and porting of GPU applications together with the GCoE members; cooperation with international project partners and vendors as well as coordination of work-packages and project milestones; assistance in the coordination of the administrative work of the GCoE.
Requirements: university Master´s degree in either Computer Science, Mathematics respectively any related Engineering or Natural Science; significant experience in GPGPU-programming (e.g. CUDA, OpenCL or OpenACC); advanced programming skills in C/C++ as well as with shell and scripting languages, basic knowledge of Fortran; demonstrated practical experience regarding the design, realization and maintenance of software projects; very good command of English (written and spoken) required for working in an international project; high self-motivation, commitment, and flexibility as well as the ability to work in and contribute to a dynamic team of young scientists; experience in programming and using high performance computing systems as well as performance analysis tools are beneficial.
