The German Diabetes Center, Leibniz Center for Diabetes Research at Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf (DDZ) is an interdisciplinary research center which combines molecular, clinical, and epidemiological work to improve prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and therapy of diabetes mellitus and its associated secondary complications.
The Institute for Clinical Biochemistry and Pathobiochemistry (Head: Prof. Dr. Hadi Al-Hasani) investigates molecular mechanisms responsible for type 2 diabetes. High -throughput methods, such as mass spectroscopy-based proteome mapping, expression profiling and exome sequencing are used to comprehensively investigate regulatory networks and predictive markers for diabetes and secondary complications. Postdoc in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
You hold a PhD in computational biology, computer science, systems biology, bioinformatics or other relevant discipline, and have proven experience with complex data analysis. It is essential to possess a solid understanding of statistics and interest in omics technologies, along with an interest in writing and developing custom data analysis code. You have achieved a strong publication record and very good interpersonal and communication skills. The applicant is expected to readily cooperate with scientists at the DDZ and researchers within the national association of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD).
The position is to be awarded as soon as possible. According to personal and professional prerequisites the post will be fixed for up to three years. Prolongation is possible. Habilitation is possible in this position. Salaries are based on qualification and experience according to TV-L. Females are especially encouraged to apply, and in case of equal qualification, handicapped persons will be given preference.
