Post-Doc Bioinformatics (f/m)

The Department of Preclinical Imaging and Radiopharmacy is a powerful research oriented group focusing on new tracers and biomarkers as well as in vivo biomedical research utilizing novel imaging technology and developing the next generation Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and multimodality imaging equipment. We are an interdisciplinary team of 55 researchers and technical employees with various backgrounds such as medicine, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, physics and mathematics. We maintain many collaborations with basic researchers and clinical colleagues at our university hospital, the science faculty of the University of Tübingen as well as with many scientific partners worldwide. Our research is further driven by fast-paced technological progress in other analytical areas such as microscopy and omics technology. This extensive generation of heterogenous data sets high requirements for optimal processing.

We are looking for a motivated scientist with knowledge in bioinformatics with regard to collecting, processing and analyzing functional and structural data as well as with interest in imaging and biomedical questions. The candidate should have a degree in bioinformatics, applied statistics or in a related mathematical / scientific discipline with appropriate supplementary qualification. Experience in the application of high-dimensional data in medicine or biology, good programming skills (z.B. C, C++, R, Perl, Python, script languages, MATLAB) as well as methodological experience in the area of omics technology, combined with other skills in data analysis and simulation of biological biological processes, is desirable. Prior experience in cooperating with scientists of various backgrounds for statistical or bioinformatics data analysis is essential. One of our goal is, for example, the development of new, multivariate statistical procedures to investigate biological processes at the systems level by multimodal imaging.
Besides organizational and communication skills, the position demands strong commitment and requires independent working as well as working in a team.

Die PostDoc-Stelle ist zunächst befristet auf 2 Jahre mit Aussicht auf Verlängerung.
Wir bieten Vergütung nach TV-L (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst der Länder) sowie alle im öffentlichen Dienst üblichen Leistungen. Schwerbehinderte werden bei gleicher Eignung vorrangig berücksichtigt.
