Laboratory IT Specialist (m/f)

As WHO-Supranational Reference Laboratory of Tuberculosis (TB) we are helping implement new technologies in eight high TB prevalence partner countries in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Nepal. The Lab IT Specialist would have the responsibility of implementing Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) in approximately ten National Reference (NRL) and TB culture laboratories in Central Asia within our new USAID funded consortia ETICA project, a five-year implementation engagement in Central Asia. The candidate will be working with an international team of over 25 experts in four organizations. We are addressing applicants with experience in parametrization and configuration of Laboratory Information Systems and data management in microbiological diagnostics.

Activities and responsibilities

  • Assess existing data management strategies, analyze the customers’ needs and wishes in our partner TB laboratories regarding data management and translate your findings into a targeted product profile for a LIMS and its connectivity to locally existing IT systems;
  • Perform a market research on LIMS and identify the most appropriate system to meet the local requirements;
  • Help with its implementation, parametrization, configuration, evaluation and roll-out to all target laboratories;
  • Maintain the system over the project period.
  • Define indicators and monitor the effects of LIMS on the performance of the laboratories, turn-around times.

Qualification profile

  • Work experience with LIMS implementation, parameterization, configuration in microbiological laboratories, preferably including TB;
  • Preferably practical work experience in a microbiology laboratory;
  • English and Russian C1 or higher
  • International travel and work experience and willingness to regularly travel and work to Central Asian countries;
  • Strong capacities as team player and communicator.
