Research Fellow (computer science, electrical engineering for SFB 912 - HAEC)

At TU Dresden, the SFB 912 – HAEC (Highly Adaptive Energy Efficient Computing) offers as of 1st July 2015 the following position (subject to budget approval) for a
 
Research Fellow
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
 
The contract is limited until 30.06.2017 with the possibility of extension until the end of project at 30.06.2019. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
Tasks: The researcher will conduct research on energy-efficient photonic transceiver for on-board optical communication within the HAEC box. He / She is given the opportunity to gain valuable project experience, to work with excellent scientists in an international team on a versatile range of tasks and to form organizational and administrative procedures in the Collaborative Research Center (SFB). Main task is the research work and documentation of the HAEC subproject with implementation of research in the areas of integrated photonic devices, i.e. energy efficient modulators and photo diodes on the HAEC box. Therefore demonstrators shall be set up, to show research results and connect to other HAEC subprojects. In addition, participation in HAEC researcher meetings and exchange with other HAEC subprojects is expected, as well as publishing (peer-reviewed) results of the HAEC subproject.
Requirements: university degree (Diploma/M.Sc.) in electrical engineering or computer science; strong background in optical communications; sufficient knowledge of English; ability and willingness to carry out independent, conceptual and scientific work in a team; interest in practical, interdisciplinary cooperation with partners from research and industry. Helpful are knowledge in integrated devices as well as programming skills (MATLAB and / or Python) and numerical simulation tools.
