PhD Project ‘Mechanisms of microbial Fe(II) oxidation’

Iron biogeochemical processes including microbial Fe(II) oxidation and Fe(III) reduction play a key role for the fate of nutrients and many contaminants in the environment. In this PhD project the mechanisms of nitrate-reducing Fe(II)-oxidizing bacteria will be studied by applying innovative cultivation techniques (e.g. the application of laser tweezers), metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, metaproteomics and stable-isotope labeling experiments.

The starting date is January 1st 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. The employment will be arranged by the administration of the University of Tübingen (salary TVL E13, 65%, including health insurance, 3 years). Disabled persons will be preferred in case of equal qualification.

Applications including CV, motivation letter, overview of techniques and methods used in the past, transcripts, and contact address of two referees should be send by email before November 17th 2016 to:
Dr. Sara Kleindienst, Microbial Molecular Ecology Group, Geomicrobiology, Center for Applied Geosciences, University of Tübingen, Hölderlinstr. 12, D-72074 Tübingen, Germany, Phone: +49-7071-2974701, Email: sara.kleindienst@uni-tuebingen.de
