PhD Position in Epigenetic regulation of Pulmonary Vascular Disease (m/f), Reference number 17/2017
Max-Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research
Bad Nauheim, Germany

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Max-Planck-Institute for Heart and Lung Research, Department of Lung Development and Remodelling in Molecular Mechanisms in Pulmonary Vascular Research group offers PhD position (m/f). The position is available immediately.
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated applicants. The applicant should possess a strong research background in molecular and cell biology; specific experience in the fields of lung and heart diseases, and/or epigenetics will be an advantage. While relevant experience is useful, more importantly, the ideal candidate will be highly motivated, have a strong work ethic, and be able to bring new ideas to our working group.

Our group research has focused to delineate the role of central downstream molecules, with a major focus on transcription factors (FoxO, Beta-catenin, HIF) and epigenetic mechanisms (DNA methylation, histone modifications and long non-coding RNAs) to Pulmonary Hypertension, Right Heart Dysfunction and Pulmonary Fibrosis and to develop novel therapeutic strategies to reverse these devastating diseases. Our international team offers an open, supportive, dynamic and motivating academic environment with excellent training opportunities.
We use a wide range of biochemical, molecular/cell biological, sequencing, bioinformatics and transgenic techniques to study the transcriptional and epigenetic networks in heart and lung development and disease both in cell culture and in vivo in mouse and rat.
The successful candidate will work at the Max-Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research, which provides excellent research facilities, as well as a friendly and dynamic working environment.
