NEO New Oncology GmbH - part of Siemens Healthineers - is a dynamically growing diagnostics company offering genetic testing to identify optimal treatment options for cancer patients. Bioinformatician / Biostatistician
We are looking for an experienced scientist with strong track record in the field of bioinformatics and/or computational biology. You will join a team of international computational biologists working in a high-end enterprise IT environment. As a member of our Computational Biology Department you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge technologies for comprehensive molecular tumor diagnostics. Excellent English skills both verbal and written are madatory.
Your responsibilities:
  • Supporting the development and improvement of algorithms to identify chromosomal copy number changes and other actionable genomic alterations in tumor DNA derived from clinical specimens such as FFPE, fresh frozen tissue or blood samples,
  • Processing and interpretation of large data sets generated by our diagnostics department,
  • Performing statistical data analysis for internal and external research projects,
  • Interpretation of results from statistical analysis and presenting the outcome to colleagues of other departments,
  • Collaborating with the R&D department in optimizing diagnostic routine protocols and NEO assay performance,
  • Supporting data mining and analysis for the validation of NEO assays as well as the development of new diagnostic tests,
  • Documentation and testing of newly developed algorithms,
  • Contributing in drafting study protocols that require statistical analysis.
Your skills and experience:
  • PhD in Statistics, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Computer Science or other related scientific disciplines,
  • Very strong background in statistics,
  • Good scientific understanding of cancer genetics / genomics,
  • Experience in NGS statistical data analysis,
  • Strong programming and computing skills,
  • Experience with C++ and R programming language is a plus,
  • Excellent presentation skills,
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
