The University Medical Center Mannheim is operating as a maximum service general hospital with a broad spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic resources. The Institute of Pathology of the University Medical Centre Mannheim, Medical Faculty Mannheim of the University of Heidelberg (Director: Prof. Dr. A. Marx) is looking for a
PhD student (m/f)
The position is available as soon as possible for initially 2 year with the possibility of extension.
A main focus of her/his work will be the investigation of epithelial and myogenic stem cells in non-neoplastic murine and human thymus, including mouse models, and human thymic epithelial tumors (thymomas). The work will be conducted in cooperation with the group of Developmental Immunology of the DKFZ Heidelberg (Group leader: Prof. Dr. B. Kyewski).
Applicants should have the following skills:
  • a special interest in the field of (tumor)cell biology/ molecular biology / immuniology and a special expertise regarding work with tumor cells, cell culture work and molecular biology techniques
  • interest in working in an internationally competitive scientific environment
  • willingness to work with an animal model, FELASA accredited courses would be appreciated
  • a high motivation, flexibility and mobility
